So it is Jan 21, 2025 and we have just recently inaugurated our 47th president of the United States and while Mr Trump is on stage giving his acceptance speech it is announced across all the news networks that Mr Biden had just preemptively pardoned Fauci, the J6 panel and his family members (sorry if I missed anyone). Even the usually friendly mainstream media were shocked and even outraged by his actions.
4 years earlier Mr Biden had strongly criticized Mr Trump for considering this same action when he was leaving office (note: trump did not follow through with it) and now the moral compass of the Democratic party has done the exact thing he said was outrageous. Dozens of people who may or may not have committed crimes are not stigmatized with a cloud of guilt forever hanging over their heads.
What is a preemptive pardon
A preemptive pardon is a legal action taken to grant forgiveness or immunity from prosecution to an individual before any charges have been filed or a formal investigation has been concluded. This type of pardon is often granted by a head of state, such as a president or a governor, and can be controversial due to its implications for accountability and the justice system.
Preemptive pardons are typically issued with the intent to prevent potential legal consequences for actions that may have been committed, often arising in political contexts where certain individuals may be under investigation. The rationale behind such pardons can vary, including maintaining political stability or protecting individuals who are seen as having acted in the public interest.
However, because they allow individuals to evade potential legal consequences without facing trial, preemptive pardons can spark debates regarding their ethical implications and their impact on the rule of law.
Conclusions
Only time will tell what may happen in the aftermath of Mr Bidens actions but it may forever stain our nations reputation as a law and order nation who trusts in our court system. These actions would show a very large prejudice leaning towards these pardoned people being guilty or some real or perceived illegal activity.
To be quite honest I would think that the potential illegal activities can still be investigated (since the pardonees can not claim 5th amendment protections) to determine what was done and to prevent whatever may have happened can be prevented in the future and the bad actors can at least be called out.
