The Risk to Ones Mental Health Working From Home
So for all you folks who work in an office and have a loved one or significant other who works from the big old empty house, it is really a very Lonely time for them.
We all need conversation, physical contact and a wish to be relevant. If you return home and this person wants to talk or get out of the house(office). Everyone needs to escape from work when it is done for the day, truthfully waking up the stairs when your 8 hours is over really means you are still at work. Stay at home workers are working with their nose to the grindstone and they don’t have that opportunity to go out to lunch with co-workers or just pop into someones cubicle for a quick chat about whatever. They aren’t immersed in the tumult of human activity that surround those in an actual office. Just as a warning to you all this leads to a great deal of mental trauma and depression.
Try reaching out out and speak with the folks working from home just to hear a voice besides the dog, cat or goldfish. If you live or work nearby ask them if they’d like to meet for lunch. When your workday is done and you’ve left the office behind try spending some time listening to them when you get home or spend some quality time outside the home. Remember, the home office is their workplace 24/7 while you get to escape after the end of your shift. They look in the corner or walk past a closed door to their home office and they are constantly reminded that they are still at work.
